Julie Engler started Mudslinger Studios while teaching ninth graders English and working to bench press her weight. The business was founded in 200-7, though she’s been making award winning ceramic art for over 40 years.

Power in nature
The mudslinger finds power in nature and is strengthened by challenges. Over the course of several years, she has refined the ancient and basic technique of building coil pots. The works she makes now test the limits of small, hand-rolled coils.
He creates unique, handbuilt coil pots that are light, strong and highly textured with the maker’s marks.
The texture of her coil pots is reminiscent of the layers of land that make up the mountains around the Flathead Valley and the rivers that flow through it.
